  1. This building is owned by the Baptist Church, who established a Museum in 1954 and named it “Ancient Times House”. The Museum was given this name in recognition of its ancient antiquities from Egypt and Eastern Mediterranean in the form of pottery vessels, glass objects, coins, clay tablets and a mummified child in its collection. It promoted religious teaching relevant to the bible and had a steady stream of school children who came on excursions to the Museum up until 2003. Ancient Times House was a fascination to the Chinatown locals wondering how a Museum of Mediterranean Antiquities could co-exist in historic Chinese street!
School children were a fixture in Little Bourke Street always waiting in a line outside the entrance. They have now moved to waiting outside the Chinese Museum around the corner in Cohen Place where the school tours take place.
